There has been a big discussion on face book about horse eligibility. For some strange reason, I am unable to comment on this discussion, so I will post something here.....

A horse that finished in the top 3 at the BHF in any class -- Amateur or Open -- is ineligible to compete again in the BHF. That horse is eligible to compete in the National Halter Championship Show as there are no horse eligibility restrictions.

A horse that finished in the top 10 as a weanling is not eligible to compete as a yearling but those horses that finish 4th - 10th are eligible to return as a 2 Year Old. This is for both Amateur and Open Classes.

A weanling or yearling that is WC or RWC at any AQHA World Show is ineligible to compete at the BHF. A 2 Year Old that was in the top 3 at any AQHA World Show (in the Weanling, Yearling or 2 Year Old classes) is ineligible to compete in the 2 Year Old Classes at BHF.

Please note that any AQHA World Show will include Youth, Amateur, Select or Open. Also, please remember that there are Exhibitor Eligibility requirements as well.

All the rules are posted on the BHF Web site at I am happy to answer any questions, please feel free to contact me at

We also have added a Non Pro Division as a class within a class in the BHF Weanling Classes. We have added a Youth Division as well. All these rules are posted on the BHF web site too.

Thanks..... karen
